The Spices of Meghalaya: Where Our Superfoods Come From

At Humble Origins Superfoods, our spices come from Meghalaya, a state in Northeast India nestled in the Eastern Himalayas. Known as the "abode of clouds," it is a land of misty hills, heavy seasonal rain, and rich biodiversity. This page is a short introduction to the region and the single-origin ingredients we source from it.

Farming in Meghalaya

Agriculture in Meghalaya is largely small-scale and rooted in traditional knowledge passed down through generations. Many of the spices we source are grown on small plots and worked by hand, using traditional methods rather than industrial inputs. Most of our spices come direct from the farmer, and a couple come via a supplier.

Our Single-Origin Ingredients

Our six single-origin ingredients all come from Meghalaya:

We also offer blends, such as the Golden Immunity Medley and Golden Warm Medley, made from Meghalaya spices. Blends are medleys, not single-origin.

Why Origin Matters to Us

Where a spice is grown shapes its flavor, color, and aroma. We focus on single-origin sourcing so you know exactly where each spice comes from. Shop our single-origin superfoods, or read more about us.
